The firm was founded in 1969 by John A. Pace (Texas 1931) and Lewis Chandler (Texas 1942). The firm was in general civil practice in Texas performing all services for individuals and corporations. In 1972, Gerard B. Rickey (SMU 1966) joined the firm and the firm changed its name to Pace, Chandler & Rickey. Jonathan A. Pace (Texas 1972) joined the firm in 1975. The firm operated as Pace, Chandler & Rickey through the late 1980s when Lewis Chandler retired and the firm became Pace & Rickey, L.L.P. William R. Pace (South Texas 1999) joined the firm in 2001. With the retirement of Gerard Rickey in 2004, the firm renamed itself as Pace & Pace, L.L.P.
